Educational Developments

Building Bulletin 93 (BB93) is a document that deals with the acoustic design of new schools and school refurbishment schemes. At this point in time, it is considered mandatory for schools and is often used for other educational buildings including colleges and university’s etc.

The document itself sets out acoustic design targets in three main areas including;

• Reverberation Time Targets And
• Internal Ambient Noise Level Targets

Offices

In offices/call centres where usually there is more than just one person, it can be hard to understand and communicate with other personnel and customers either directly or by the phone etc. There are now acoustic guideline figures to ensure that people can work satisfactorily and that any internal noise levels are acceptable.

If you have an existing office where you consider there to be a noise problem be it privacy or otherwise, for example, manager's telephone calls which can be heard from outside of his or her own office or speech intelligibility problems, then we would aim to provide you with noise control and/or noise mitigation advice to reduce any resultant noise impact to a suitable level.

Healthcare

The control of noise in healthcare environments such as hospitals or health centres etc, is one aspect which can sometimes be overlooked during the design stage, or during day to day operational activities.

Currently, the ‘Health Technical Memorandum HTM 08-01’ deals with the acoustic design in hospitals and healthcare facilities. Such parameters to consider with healthcare can include the level of sound insulation required between spaces, the background noise levels, reverberation times and plant noise emissions etc.
